Former PSG coach Unai Emery is the latest frontrunner for the top job at Arsenal as news filtered in that Mikel Arteta has withdrawn from the race to succeed Arsene Wenger.
Emery, who was fired at Paris Saint-Germain earlier in May was in London on Monday for talks with the Arsenal board.
The Spaniard led the French Ligue 1 side to a domestic treble this season but his two-year contract was not extended and was replaced by Thomas Tuchel.
Arsenal are currently searching for a successor to Wenger and former Gunners captain Arteta had long been in the frame.
The 36-year-old Arteta, who is a coach at Manchester City wanted guarantees that he will have the main say in which players are to be sold to recoup funds for further investments, with the club’s summer budget reportedly at £50m.
